Our Work

Through exercise/recreation grants and educational programs M4CF/CFLF assists people living with cystic fibrosis to thrive, not just survive. By inspiring healthy and active lifestyles through fitness, exercise, and outdoor recreation activities we educate people living with CF about the critical psychological, social and emotional connections between their lifestyle and their health.

Exercise Recreation Grants

Our exercise/recreation grants are intended to encourage activities that physically challenge the body and the lungs, while also the supporting social and emotional difficulties associated with chronic disease.

BreatheStrong+

An extension of the BreatheStrong exercise grant program that combines education, motivation and incentive for making wellness a priority. This virtual wellness program is free to anyone in the United States with CF, and just $35/year for family, friends or supporters.

What is Cystic Fibrosis?

In people with CF, a defective gene causes a thick, buildup of mucus in the lungs, pancreas and other organs. In the lungs, the mucus clogs the airways and traps bacteria leading to infections, extensive lung damage and eventually, respiratory failure. In the pancreas, the mucus prevents the release of digestive enzymes that allow the body to break down food and absorb vital nutrients.
